The coins were nice, but one came in a plastic SOFT case, the other in an air-tite. Gold Libertad Proof Mintages of (400 & 600 for each year). It was also my first Gold order that I got a few Proofs and graded coins. The first Order I bought from APMEX arrived in less than 24 hours from the day I played my order. But I respect your ability to make a few bucks if you have a keen eye for such matters. I think if I were to try the numismatic play, I would just buy graded. Though I suppose one might get lucky once in a while, but I just see it all as bullion. The only benefit I expect when buying a tube, is the tube itself. Even though proof Libertads seem to be popular, I look at the BU ones and the Ark coins as half a notch above generic, when the price gets close enough I'll grab some - might work out better in the long run, might not.įrom my experience with Apmex(like them, love the turn around time), I expect a roll of BU to be in the condition stated, but I understand they've taken the grade-able ones out - just figured all dealers did this, and that is why they offer the mint sealed tubes of most product for a premium. The coins looked good, as did the Libertads, but I just consider it bullion, so maybe I'm not looking close enough. The tube I got still had the mint seal on it, was a little taken back as it's the first time I've seen something like that. I bought a tube of the Ark coins (and a tube of the 2013 Libertads, as both have been on sale a lot recently) from Apmex.

I knew that was the case with individual coins, but I figured when buying in mint tube quantities these would be sealed. After a phone call and questioning this, these coins are all rejects from the coins that they sent in for grading. The Ark coins have a seal that keeps the tube airtight and that had been broken. None of the mint tubes were mint sealed, only sealed by the tape APMEX uses.

I bought a few rolls of there Ark coins and some other rolls. Having been a very loyal customer and Platinum member I have to say I'm very unhappy with APMEX's practices.
